ABOUT GIVENCHY

Originally founded in 1952 by designer Hubert de Givenchy, this French fashion house is known for its modern take on classic feminine styles. In 1988, Givenchy sold the company to the French conglomerate LVMH, retiring seven years later. The peripatetic John Galliano was Givenchy’s immediate successor; he was followed by Alexander McQueen and then by Julien Macdonald, who helmed the house from 2001 to 2004. Riccardo Tisci took over the reigns as Creative Director in 2005. The look remains modern, weaving a dark, gothic and ultimately feminine undertone through Givenchy’s ready-to-wear, haute couture, and accessory collections.
